Cinemark also achieved all-time records across premium formats, with the best-ever weekend for Cinemark XD, ScreenX panoramic screens and D-BOX motion seats
Demand for Cinemark’s food, beverage and merchandise offerings reached new heights, driving a record food and beverage revenue weekend
Cinemark Holdings, Inc. (NYSE:CNK), one of the largest and most influential theatrical exhibition companies in the world, today announced that July 31 through August 2 was the biggest domestic weekend box office of all time for the company, propelled by the sensational opening of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, with additional contribution from The Odyssey’s strong holdover performance. Additionally, the web-slinging success of Spider-Man: Brand New Day delivered Cinemark’s best-ever domestic box office for a three-day opening weekend, surpassing the previous record set by Avengers: Endgame.
In addition to the all-time box office highs, Cinemark’s continued investments in premium entertainment experiences with its expansive portfolio of enhanced viewing options drove the best-ever three-day U.S. weekend results for Cinemark XD, the world’s No. 1 exhibitor-branded premium large format, ScreenX 270-degree panoramic screens and D-BOX motion seats. As moviegoers swung into theaters for Spider-Man's latest adventure, they also indulged in food, beverage and merchandise, delivering Cinemark’s highest weekend food and beverage revenue of all time.
"Cinemark’s outsized performance for Spider-Man: Brand New Day across our entire global circuit once again underscores how great films in immersive, shared theatrical settings have the ability to create must-see cultural events on a heroic scale – especially at Cinemark," said Sean Gamble, President and CEO of Cinemark. "Hats off to our global team for making such a significant impact in enabling these special moments for our guests, and congratulations to our partners at Sony and Marvel on this exceptional weekend."
